In the year 2012-13, the West Bengal Tribal Development Co-operative Corporation Ltd. started implementing the scheme named ASRY sponsored by NSTFDC. Under this scheme, concessional loans are provided to eligible ST students for pursuing professional, technical courses, and higher studies.

The loan covers expenses towards admission, examination, and tuition fees, as well as boarding and lodging, books, and computers.

After the moratorium period (Course duration + 1 year or 6 months after getting a job, whichever is earlier), the beneficiary must repay the loan within the next five years at an interest rate of 3.5% p.a. for female students and 4% p.a. for male students.

Achievement so far:
Since inception, 268 ST students have benefited under the scheme, with a total of 423 instalment-wise cases disbursed. An amount of INR 874.57 lakh lakh has been provided to support them in pursuing higher studies.
