Scheme - Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH)

The Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) aims to promote the holistic growth of the horticulture sector, including fruits, vegetables, flowers, spices, and plantations, through area expansion, improved productivity, and post-harvest management. It focuses on enhancing farmers' income by providing financial and technical support for modern technologies, infrastructure development, and capacity building across the horticulture value chain.

Benefits Offer Under the Scheme

  • Financial assistance for establishing new orchards, nurseries, and plantations of fruits, vegetables, and other horticulture crops
  • Support for protected cultivation (greenhouses, shade nets, polyhouses) to improve productivity and quality
  • Subsidies for micro-irrigation systems
  • Assistance for post-harvest management, including cold storage, pack houses, and ripening chambers
  • Promotion of organic farming and integrated nutrient/pest management practices
  • Support for mechanization and adoption of modern technologies in horticulture
  • Capacity building through training programs, skill development, and farmer exposure visits

Eligibility

  • All categories of farmers (small, marginal, medium, and large) are eligible to avail benefits
  • Farmer groups, such as Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and cooperatives can apply
  • Entrepreneurs and private sector entities involved in horticulture activities are eligible for certain components
  • State governments, government agencies, and public sector organizations can implement projects under the scheme
  • Institutions and research organizations engaged in horticulture development are eligible for support
  • Beneficiaries must have ownership or lease rights over land for undertaking horticulture activities
  • Applicants should comply with scheme guidelines and technical standards prescribed by the government

Application Details

  • Interested beneficiaries need to apply through the State Horticulture Department or implementing agency in their respective state
  • Obtain and fill theprescribed application form (available online on state portals or at local horticulture offices)
  • Submit necessary documents such as land ownership/lease proof, identity proof, project proposal, and bank details
  • The application is scrutinized by the concerned department to verify eligibility and feasibility of the project
  • Field inspection may be conducted by officials for site verification
  • Upon approval, the beneficiary receives sanction of subsidy/financial assistance as per scheme norms
  • The applicant must implement the project within the stipulated time following technical guidelines
  • Subsidy istypically released in phases or after completion/verification of the project
