Benefits Offer Under the Scheme
- Full or partial reimbursement of tuition fees and other non-refundable compulsory charges.
- Maintenance allowance (monthly/annual) to cover living expenses, varying by course level and whether the student is a hosteller or day scholar.
- Allowance for books, study materials, and stationery.
- Additional allowances for specific needs such as thesis preparation, study tours, or project work (for higher-level courses).
- Extra support for students with disabilities (e.g., higher allowances or special provisions).
- All benefits are disbursed as Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the student's bank account.
Eligibility
- Must be an Indian citizen and belong to eligible categories such as SC, ST, OBC, or notified minority groups.
- Should have passed Class 10 (matriculation) or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
- Must be pursuing studies in a recognized institution (Class XI onward, including higher secondary, undergraduate, postgraduate, or professional courses).
- Annual family income should be within the prescribed limit (commonly up to Rs 2.5 lakh, though it may vary by category and scheme).
- Should not be receiving another scholarship for the same purpose.
Application Details
- Register on the oasis.wb.gov.in website.
- Log in to the portal using your OTR ID and password to access the application dashboard.
- Select the relevant scholarship scheme applicable to your category (SC/ST/OBC/Minority).
- Fill out the application form by entering personal, academic, and income details accurately.
- Upload required documents such as caste certificate, income certificate, mark sheets, Aadhaar, and bank details.
- Review all details carefully and submit the application. No edits are allowed after final submission.
- The application is verified by the institution and then by district/state authorities.
- After approval by the concerned ministry, the scholarship amount is transferred directly to the student's bank account through DBT.
