Scheme - Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U 2.0) is a flagship Government of India initiative that aims to provide affordable pucca houses to eligible urban families. The scheme offers financial assistance for construction, purchase, or rental of houses through various components, including Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC), Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP), Affordable Rental Housing (ARH), and the Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS). PMAY-U 2.0 seeks to improve living standards, promote home ownership, and ensure "Housing for All" for urban poor and middle-income families.

Benefits Offered Under PMAY-U 2.0

  • Financial assistance for construction, purchase or rental of affordable housing in urban areas.
  • Assistance available under four verticals: Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC), Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP), Affordable Rental Housing (ARH) and Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS).
  • Central & State assistance provided to eligible beneficiaries for owning a pucca house.
  • Interest subsidy available on eligible home loans under the ISS component.
  • Promotes safe, durable, all-weather housing for urban families.
  • Special preference to widows, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, SC/STs, minorities and other vulnerable groups.
  • Encourages women's ownership/co-ownership of houses.
  • Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) ensures transparent fund disbursement.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must belong to EWS, LIG, or MIG category as per prescribed income criteria.
  • Applicant and family must not own a pucca house anywhere in India.
  • Applicant should not have availed housing benefits under any Government housing scheme during the prescribed period
  • Applicant must be residing in an urban area covered under PMAY-U2.0.
  • Aadhaar-linked verification is mandatory.
  • For Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC), the beneficiary should possess land or have legal rights over the land for house construction.
  • Beneficiary family generally comprises husband, wife and unmarried children.

Application Details

  • Apply online through the PMAY-U 2.0 Portal using Aadhaar-based authentication with a mobile number linked to Aadhaar
  • Complete the application form with personal, family, income and housing details.
  • Upload required documents including Aadhaar, income proof, bank account details, and photographs
  • Submit land ownership documents in case of Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC).
  • Application undergoes verification by ULBS and competent authorities.
  • Applicants can track application status online through the PMAY-U portal
