Scheme - Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana

The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah Yojana (PM MKSSY) is a sub scheme under PM Matsya Sampada Yojana which aims to strengthem India's fisheries sector through financial support, marker linkages, and digital integration. it aims to improve fishers incomes by promoting productivity, value chain effciency, quality assurance, and access, to institutional credit and insurance.

  • Insurance subsidy: 40% premium support (Rs 25,000 / max Rs 1lakh) and 10% extra for SC/ST/women (valid for one crop cycle)
  • Performance grants:
  • General: 25% of investment (Rs 35-75 lakh caps)
  • SC/ST/women: 35% (Rs 45-100 lakh caps)
  • Cooperatives/SHGs/FPOs: 35% (up to Rs 2 crore)(for quality, safety, and value chain improvements). [pib.gov.in]
  • Institutional finance: Easier access to loans and working capital. [dof.gov.in]
  • Digital platform (NFDP): Work based IDs+ access to schemes, credit, insurance, e services
  • Market support: E commerce, e auction, 828 linkages; improved quality, traceability, and exports
  • Employment incentives: Grants linked to job creation/retention
  • Risk coverage: Insurance protects against disease and crop loss
  • Sector formalization: Brings informal players into formal economy; improves transparency and ease of business

Eligibility

  • Individuals in fisheries: Fishers, fish farmers, fish workers, and vendors directly engaged inthe fisheries value chain.
  • MSMEs: Proprietorships, partnerships, companies, and LLPs involved in fisheries/aquaculture.
  • Collective organizations: Cooperatives, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Fish Farmer Producer Organizations (FFPOs), Fish Production Groups (FPGs)federations, and village-level bodies.
  • Startups & other entities: Startups and any other stakeholders included by the Department of Fisheries.
  • Indian registration requirement: Beneficiaries must be registered (or register) on the National Fisheries Digital Platform (NFDP) to access scheme benefits.
  • Aquaculture insurance benefit condition: Farmers must purchase aquaculture insurance to avail the premium subsidy (valid for one crop cycle).
  • Enterprise grant eligibility: MSEs must invest and meet performance/quality parameters to receive performance-linkedgrants.

Application Details

  • NFDP Registration: Create an account onthe National Fisheries Digital Platform
  • Create profile & ID: Enter personal/business details
  • Select scheme component: Choose relevant benefits (insurance incentive, performance grant, credit support, etc.)
  • Submit application: Fill the online form with required details and upload necessary documents
  • Verification & approval: Authorities verify eligibility, investment, or insurance details before sanction
  • Claim incentives: Apply through NFDP for insurance subsidy or performance grants after meetingconditions
  • Receive benefits: Approved funds/incentives are transferred directly (DBT) to the beneficiary's bank account
