The West Bengal Rajya Khadya Suraksha Yojana is a food security scheme that provides free rice and wheat to economically weaker sections who are not fully covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). it aims to ensure affordability and accessibility of essenitial food grains for poor and vulnerable families across West Bengal.
Benefits Offer Under the Scheme
- Category 1(more vulnerable households): 5 kg rice per person per month
- Category 2(comparativelybetter-off households): 2 kg rice per person per month
- Subsidized pricing (under Khadya Sathi): Rice is provided free of cost
Eligibility
- Resident of West Bengal
- Must hold a valid ration card for gettingfood grains
- Must belongto economically weaker sections (EWS)
- Should not be a government employee
- Households with higher income, significant assets (vehicles, large landholding, income tax payers, etc.) are excluded
- Priority to vulnerable groups like landless laborers, SC/ST households, and other deprived categories
Application Details
- Get application form: Online via WBPDS portal (https://food.wb.gov.in) or from local food office/FPS; apply for new or conversion from RKSY-11
- OTP verification: Register mobile number and verify usingOTP
- Fill details: Enter personal, address, family, income, and occupation information
- Submit documents: Upload Aadhaar, address proof, income certificate, and ID proof
- Submit application: Submit online application in portal or at office
- Government verification: Authorities check eligibility usingsocio-economic criteria
- Approval &card issue: RKSY-1 ration card issued (digital/physical)
- Start benefits: Collect free food grains from Fair Price Shop
