The West Bengal Shikshasree Scheme is a state government initiative that provides annual financial assistance to students from economically weaker sections in classes V to VIII to support their continued education. It aims to reduce dropout rates and encourage school participation by easing basic educational expenses such as books and uniforms.
Benefits Offer Under the Scheme
- Annual financial assistance (scholarship) of Rs 800 per student for Classes V to VIII.
- Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of the amount into the student's bank account.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
- Must belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
- Must be studying in Classes V-VIII in a government, government-aided, or government-recognized school.
- Annual family income should generally not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh.
- Student should not be receiving any other similar scholarship.
- Must have a valid bank account.
Application Details
