Area to Visit- Himalayas
For all mountain lovers, the Himalayas are the epitome of nature's grandeur. Home to the highest peaks on the planet, the Himalayas boast of eight out of the ten highest peaks in the world. Darjeeling

West Bengal's premier attraction, Darjeeling is one of the most majestic hill stations in the world. With a backdrop of the Himalayas, Darjeeling offers a unique blend of urban desire and rural retreat. Darjeeling can be experienced by the lonely traveller on a pilgrimage in search of solitude and can also be used as a family getaway for adventure and leisurely respite. Renowned for its beautiful tea plantations and the quality of Darjeeling tea, Darjeeling is a delight for all kind of tourists.

Kurseong

A small town south of Darjeeling, Kurseong literally translates into the "place of white orchids" due to its abundance of gardens which blossom white orchids aplenty. Home to adventure sports like trekking and river rafting, Kurseong welcomes people from all walks of life eager to experience the mountainous regions of the north east. British remnants are present in the form of churches and schools and even though Kurseong has a milder climate, its monsoons can be severe.

Kalimpong

Kalimpong, located on a ridge overlooking the Teesta River, owes its popularity to its temperate climate and tourist locations around the town. Home to many flower nurseries, it is considered to be the hub for the cultivation of horticulture plants. With its bustling bazaars, Buddhist monasteries, colonial era architecture, and some of the best views of the Himalayas, Kalimpong is a must visit town. The food scene is dominated by Bengali, Tibetan and Chinese Cuisine.

Rishop Rimbik

Located in the Kalimpong area, Rishop Rimbik exudes a medieval charm with is rustic simplicity. The end of many treks, Rimbik is being promoted as a destination for one wanting seclusion. Meant solely for trekkers, Rimbik is nestled in forests of birch, fir and pine and is virtually inaccessible through road. With its small cottage accommodation and splendid view of the Himalayas it is the ideal spot for peace and solitude.

Lava Lolegaon

A small and peaceful hamlet surrounded by pictorial pine forests, Lava Lolegaon is often hidden in mists and clouds. Popular for nature exploration and bird watching it is the starting point of treks which offer a wealth of flora and fauna. Its most popular attraction is the canopy walk, a 180 metre hanging wooden tree top bridge that goes through the dense jungle. Home to beautiful monasteries of Bhutanese origin, Lava Lolegaon is an ideal destination to unwind and relax.

Mirik

Nestled in the serene hills of the Darjeeling district, Mirik is a place of underrated scenic beauty. Mirik's charm lies in the Sumendu Lake which slices through the town. Located at the highest point in the region, the Bokar Monastery boasts a gilded statue of Buddha at its front. With its suave atmosphere, Mirik is a classic destination.
