Garlic Production & Procurement
SUFAL BANGLA is a flagship project of the state Government which regularly procures onion,
garlic and other important summer and winter vegetables throughout that year directly from the
farmers door step as well as from its 90 procurement centres scattered all over the states and sell
the procure produce directly to the consumers through it 649 mobile and static outlets at
reasonable prices. This unique marketing intervention program in business mode provides
remunerative prices to farmers on one hand and relief to the customers on the other, especially at
the time of abnormal hardening or softening abnormal hardening or softening of prices.
Garlic production is localised in Tehhatta and Karimpur sub divisions of Nadia with
cumulative yield of approx 26000 MT. Since Farmers face difficulty in storing and marketing
their produce, Sufal Bangla has undertaken the initiative to :-
- Procure garlic directly from the farmstead through its procurement centres at
Bethuadahari and karimpur and store it at its storage structure at Hanskhali for
subsequent sale through Sufal Bangla outlets
- Bring the procured quantity immediately to Singur hub, sort and grade it as per
consumers’ requirement and sell it next day directly through 649+ Sufal bangle stores
- This end to end approach provids a holistic solution to the farmers about ensuring
remunerative price for their produce.
- This marketing drive, on one had would encourage garlic production in the district as
well as ensure supply of good quality garlic produced in our state to the consumers for
longer period at reasonable prices.
